Kangana Ranaut Opens Up On Dealing With Periods
In an exclusive interview with The Male Feminist hosted by Siddhaarth Aalambayan, Kangana Ranaut was asked, “How do you maintain menstrual hygiene outdoors?” In her response, she talked about her experiences as an actress and as a politician.
She said, “There are so many problems in India. Shooting is a very luxurious place. There are vans for actresses. You can change the pads as much as you want. You can take a shower. They heat up mineral water for you. The way I am now, in this political line, we travel for 12 hours a day. There is no place where women can go to the toilet. This is a problem for other MPs too. It’s a very big problem. What can you say about it? It’s a catastrophe. It’s a big problem. It’s not possible to manage it.”
Kangana Ranaut also talked about the differences in how menstruation is perceived in India compared to other countries. In Western nations and Europe, she stated that periods are looked at practically and as a physical process.
She further pointed out that the term “hysteria” originates from “ovaries”. However, in contrast, in Indian culture, particularly in rural areas, menstruation is often connected with mystery. Many connect it to spiritual or mystical beliefs and treat women differently during their periods.
In her words, “I don’t know about other countries, but what I have seen is that there is a difference in both the mindsets.”
