Kangana Ranaut has stirred controversy once again, this time taking aim at Zohran Mamdani, the son of acclaimed filmmaker Mira Nair, who is currently campaigning for the position of New York City mayor. On Thursday, Kangana voiced her disapproval of Mamdani via social media, responding to a viral post that accused the 33-year-old politician of participating in anti-Hindu protests in Times Square. The original post alleged that Mamdani had used derogatory language toward Hindus and Lord Rama during a demonstration, claims that remain unverified.
What Did Kangana Ranaut Say About Zohran Mamdani?
Kangana Ranaut questioned Mamdani’s cultural identity, pointing to his Indian heritage while remarking on how his name sounds more Pakistani than Indian. She also speculated that he had abandoned his Hindu roots and claimed he was ready to wipe out Hinduism. While her criticism was harsh, she did offer a moment of praise for his mother, Mira Nair, calling her a celebrated filmmaker and a proud daughter of India.
Even after the backlash, Zohran Mamdani holds an important position in New York’s political scene. He is a member of the Democratic Socialists of America and a sitting New York State Assemblyman. If elected, he would become the city’s first Muslim mayor.
