Kangana Ranaut Corrects Shabana Azmi On Difference Between Banning ‘The Kerala Story’ And Boycotting ‘Laal Singh Chaddha’
We think Kangana is right!

If there is one thing the moviegoers have become good at is either ganging up to boycott or ban a film. And if it is for valid reasons, it is even understood but many times the reasons cited by the boycott gang or the ban brigade are too silly to be even taken seriously! One of the recent films that embroiled itself in a massive controversy is The Kerala Story. People are demanding bans on the film because they think the film is promoting Islamophobia. Amid this, Shabana Azmi said that people do not have the right to demand bans on The Kerala Story or Laal Singh Chaddha. And Kangana Ranaut responded to her tweet issuing clarification on the same!

Shabana Azmi said that people do have the extra-constitutional authority to demand bans on any film that releases. She also said once the CBFC clears the film for release, then nothing can be done about it. Furthermore, Shabana Azmi also went on to say that those who demanded a ban on The Kerala Story are wrong and so are the ones who demanded a ban on Laal Singh Chaddha.
Those who speak of banning #The Kerala Story are as wrong as those who wanted to ban Aamir Khan’s #Laal Singh Chaadha. Once a film has been passed by the Central Board of Film Certification nobody has the right to become an extra constitutional authority .

Kangana Ranaut took notice of this tweet, and went on to say that Shabana Azmi is absolutely right but also issued a clarification. She said that nobody demanded to ban Laal Singh Chaddha but united to boycott it because the Aamir Khan starrer was based on the classic Hollywood film Forrest Gump which they did not want to be remade.
This is a very valid point except for the fact that no one asked for a ban on LSC people just didn’t want to see it for many reasons, major reason was it was a remake of a very popular old Hollywood classic which most people had already seen … https://t.co/n4hLrMyZ9N

I think both the ban brigade and boycott gang need to calm down, and just not opt to watch a film they do not like. The sales of the film’s tickets will automatically say whether the movie is being liked or not. Making noise on social media by demanding to ban or boycott the film only gives publicity to it and makes it more popular!
