Kangana Ranaut, the actor-politician, has made headlines by selling her Pali Hill bungalow in Mumbai for a substantial Rs 32 crore. This property, which previously housed her production house, Manikarnika Films, was sold to Shweta Bathija of Kamalini Holdings, based in Coimbatore, Tamil Nadu. The transaction was officially recorded on September 5, 2024, with the payment of a stamp duty of Rs 1.92 crore and a registration fee of Rs 30,000.
Kangana Ranaut Sells Her Mumbai Bungalow
The actor originally acquired the bungalow back in September 2017 for Rs 20.7 crore and later secured a Rs 27 crore loan against it in December 2022. The property spans a built-up area of 3,075 sq ft and includes a 565 sq ft parking space, as detailed in the sale documents. This sale occurs amidst ongoing controversy surrounding Kangana’s upcoming film, Emergency, which has experienced delays in its release. The film, which stars notable actors such as Anupam Kher, Mahima Chaudhry, Milind Soman, Shreyas Talpade, Vishak Nair, and the late Satish Kaushik, has been postponed due to challenges in securing a certificate from the Central Board of Film Certification (CBFC). On September 6, Kangana informed her followers on X (formerly Twitter) that a new release date would be announced soon.
Furthermore, the bungalow has been a subject of contention with the local authorities. In September 2020, the Brihanmumbai Municipal Corporation (BMC) partially demolished the property citing illegal constructions. This led to legal battles where Kangana initially demanded Rs 2 crore in compensation from the BMC, a claim she later retracted in May 2023.
