Vande Mataram Controversy?
The controversy unfolded after BJP leaders accused Sonia Gandhi of objecting to singing the entire verse of Vande Mataram during the flag-hoisting ceremony. According to reports, Union Home Minister Amit Shah has claimed that she asked Vande Mataram to be stopped during the programme. Complaints were also filed against Sonia Gandhi and Rahul Gandhi for allegedly disrespecting the national song. However, the Congress has reportedly denied the said claims and stated that Sonia was allegedly asking for a chair for Congress president Mallikarjun Kharge, as he had been standing for a while.
