Soobin And Taehyun Open Up About Brutal Trainee Days
As young trainees, Soobin and Taehyun struggled to keep up with demanding routines. Both were still in school, with Soobin in eighth grade and Taehyun in tenth. They were new to dancing and were barely able to stretch properly and their agency gave them a task to learn a tough choreography performed by senior group Seventeen. Instead of getting step-by-step guidance, they were told to study the moves by watching a video at half speed. As they were beginners, it was extremely difficult, as even the choreography was complex.
And while they were practising, some trainers used physical discipline as a way to correct mistakes. Soobin shared that they were hit when they couldn’t perform the moves well. Although they weren’t the worst dancers in their group, they still faced punishment.
The story shocked many fans, who felt heartbroken knowing that Soobin and Taehyun, as young teens, faced such harsh treatment. Fans expressed sadness over how much pressure the two endured at such a young age.
But, not to forget, Soobin and Taehyun clarified that things have changed. They reassured everyone that physical punishment is no longer used in their agency. As today, such actions would lead to serious consequences for trainers. The duo mentioned that trainees no longer face the same hardships they did. Phew!
