THE BOYZ’s Sunwoo On Plagiarism Drama
The trouble started when photos of QWER’s official light stick came out. THE BOYZ’s light stick has a clear megaphone shape with a heart detail, while the girl group’s version is also a megaphone but plain. Fans felt the basic idea was copied and expressed anger. Later, THE BOYZ’s agency, IST Entertainment, revealed that they asked the girl group’s company to change the design several times, but nothing happened. Hence, they decided to move legally but QWER’s side explained that they found no copyright problem.
For weeks, both companies stayed quiet, and fans too. Then came the 2025 Korea Grand Music Awards, where THE BOYZ’s Sunwoo delivered a powerful rap on stage. Many listeners believed lines like “pushing others aside”, “copying everything”, and “hiding behind excuses” pointed directly at the light stick issue. Fans loved it and praised him for raising his voice. They re-shared the video multiple times.
“Even if you push us aside and copy everything, you can’t take what’s ours, it’s our pride.
Hiding behind anonymity as your shield? Who are you blaming when I’m the one who stepped in?”Sunwoo literally rapp while holding that megaphone with THE BOYZ LOGO right in the middle🔥🔥 pic.twitter.com/P4LGgedGYs
