SEVENTEEN Vernon’s Mom In Hot Water For Allegedly Shading BTS And Islamophobic Tweets!

Vernon's mother took to her Facebook and wrote a long post about SEVENTEEN, PLEDIS, HYBE, and BTS.

K-pop fans on social media often debate about who helped the genre gain fame in the United States. Some fans point to BTS as the main force behind this success, while others disagree. They argue that PSY’s hit song ‘Gangnam Style’ opened the door first. This conversation usually stays within fan groups. However, recently, the mother of SEVENTEEN member Vernon shared her views on the matter. Many saw her words as a subtle dig at BTS and ARMYs reacted strongly to her comments. Vernon’s mother took to her Facebook and wrote a long post about SEVENTEEN, HYBE, and BTS. The K-pop idol’s mom pointed out that BTS’s success let the company buy Pledis, SEVENTEEN’s label. She hinted that HYBE counted on SEVENTEEN to cover lost sales once BTS went to complete their mandatory military service. When fans questioned her, she said other stars were behind K-pop’s popularity in the US. She credited YG Entertainment’s BIGBANG and PSY for his hit song that caught Western attention.

BTS fans, aka ARMY, quickly spotted the post and felt furious. They described her statements as resentful and out of place. They also recalled a past event when SEVENTEEN’s Hoshi allegedly liked a “shady” reel towards BTS. And now Vernon mom’s post has caused havoc on the internet.

Following her posts, many ARMYs dug deeper and found out that Vernon’s mom seemed to support President Donald Trump and the late Charlie Kirk and shared views that many called hurtful toward disabled people and Muslims.

In response, she said that her words never aimed to attack BTS or back those ideas. The conversation is still ongoing and many CARATs, aka SEVENTEEN’s fans, are asking everyone to not involve Vernon in this.
