The popular K-pop idol faced criticism over one particular post. During SEVENTEEN’s ongoing U.S. tour, Mingyu took to Instagram and shared photos. It was a carousel post and in one of them, netizens spotted guns and bullets. Following which, they slammed him and accused the K-pop star of encouraging gun violence. The post was later taken down from X, but the talk didn’t die down.
Fans, known as CARATs, quickly jumped to Mingyu’s defence. They said that the K-pop star was simply sharing a moment from his time at a legal shooting range. One user wrote, “He is at a shooting range in LA. Idols go to shooting ranges all the time. Are you going to drag them all?” Another user wrote with a pinch of sarcasm, wrote, “guns AT A SHOOTING RANGE???oh my god put him in jail????? ”

Despite the criticism, Mingyu’s fans remained vocal. They said that the photos were harmless. They also said that it’s a common activity in the U.S. and shooting ranges are legal and extremely popular.
