K-pop Idol Mark’s Rumoured Collaboration With Fast Food Brand Sparks Fan Outrage

Recently, an internet user posted a picture which allegedly featured NCT’s Mark. What made fans furious was that, in the photo, he was promoting an upcoming pizza item from the fast-food chain McDonald’s. The picture spread like wildfire on the internet with the brand’s past actions. You can take a look at the picture below.

Many fans expressed anger and sadness, as they couldn’t believe their favourite artist would do this. One user wrote, “For a guy who said “life is not really about the money… it really REALLY isn’t,’ and in different instances said he wants to be an artist who could help the world become a better place, who understands how big of an impact he could have on a lot of people… Mark, do you see yourself?”

Another user wrote, “did you know that even when many people don’t believe in idols anymore, they believed in you?? people are shocked that you, out of everyone, are endorsing such a brand.” The fans are also demanding a statement.

The backlash ties back to McDonald’s role in a wide wave of boycotts that began last year. It all started when the company’s Israeli branch said it would give free food to soldiers in the Israel Defence Forces and to hospitals there.

While the global McDonald’s team said this was a local decision and not their policy, the move upset many around the world.
