J.Y. Park’s Mental Health Advice For Artists Sparks Massive Outrage. Here’s Why!

K-pop idols often face a lot of stress, and their mental health is a big topic on the internet. Lately, an old video of JYP Entertainment founder J.Y. Park giving artists advice on how to handle mental health has created a stir. Many fans felt angry and described his words as uncaring. It has also sparked conversation on how idols should deal with emotions. Read on to know!

In the video from his time on the PSICK SHOW, he talked about what he tells his artists. He said that everyone can have a bad day, whether they feel sad or tired. But he tells them not to show it too much. If they look down or depressed, it might make others around them feel awkward. So, he wants them to smile, tell jokes, and keep things light to make everyone comfortable. He sees this as an important part of being a professional in entertainment. You can take a look at the video below!

However, fans did not like this idea. They shared their thoughts online and said that it feels wrong to force people to hide their real feelings. Many believe this way of thinking can make mental health problems worse over time. One user wrote, “If only his idols could leave without fear of being vilified.”

Some pointed out that several JYP artists have needed breaks because of anxiety or other issues. They say that telling idols to act happy all the time is wrong. Hence, instead of hiding pain, fans want them to express their emotions proudly. On the other hand, some people said that his advice is “reasonable”. In their words, “As bad as it sounds, he is right. If the artist looks sad or depressed, it will make everybody feel worried or depressed as well. But imo it’s sad they need to hide it.”
