Choi Si-won Addresses Controversy Over Instagram Story
Choi Siwon found himself in hot water after he shared an Instagram Story with a photo of Charlie Kirk, an American political figure who had just passed away. The caption read “REST IN PEACE CHARLIE KIRK.” He followed it with another image of Charlie Kirk alongside his family, paired with a Bible verse about a faithful servant. However, later he deleted both the posts.
But netizens and fans were quick to notice and took screenshots. Many accused the K-pop idol of showing support for Charlie Kirk’s conservative views. Not just this, many netizens also started talking about Super Junior’s history of scandals. It caused havoc on the internet as several fans voiced their disappointment.

Following which, Choi Si-won addressed the matter directly. He stated that Kirk, as a fellow Christian, family man, and husband, deserved mourning regardless of politics. The activist’s death by shooting during a university lecture struck the K-pop idol as a deep tragedy, especially with so many students present. He further added that his message had been misunderstood and chose to remove the posts to avoid further misinterpretation.
