K-pop fans are very familiar with the strict no-dating rules that agencies place on their idols. While many idols stick to these rules, others decide to follow their feelings anyway. Recently, Girls’ Generation’s Hyoyeon went on a TV show and honestly talked about her secret relationship from years ago, when she quietly broke her agency’s no-dating rule. Read on to know!
Girls’ Generation’s Hyoyeon Spills The Tea On Breaking Agency’s Strict No-Dating Rule
Hyoyeon talked about how frustrated she felt with the agency’s tight control over everything. Even simple things like going out for a burger were not allowed without permission. She said she paid for it herself, so as long as no one found out, she thought it was okay to enjoy moments like that.
Despite the strict curfew in the dorm, the K-pop star sometimes sneaked out to meet her boyfriend. One night, she stayed awake until 3 a.m., waiting for everyone to sleep, then quietly left at 4 a.m. The only place open at that hour was the Han River, so that became their secret meeting spot. It was risky and exciting at the same time.
She also shared a fun fact about the celebrity dating world during those days. People used to say that if you saw someone wearing a bucket hat or cap by the Han River late at night, it was probably a celebrity trying to hide. If two people in hats spotted each other, they would both turn around and walk the other way to avoid any awkward moments or recognition.
This has everyone talking online. Some loved how bold she was, while others are asking agencies to let K-pop idols date freely. Well, it’s true! Dating should not be banned, and they should follow their hearts.
