As K-pop idols, fans pay close attention to everything their favourite stars say. Sometimes the words bring happiness, but other times they cause problems. This happened recently with EXO’s Baekhyun. He got caught in a small controversy after talking about the popular Dubai chewy cookie trend. Read on to know all about it.

The Dubai chewy cookie is a sweet treat filled with chocolate and pistachio and has become very famous through eating videos on the internet. Many people love it, but Baekhyun shared a different view in a message to fans on the Bubble app.

The K-pop idol wrote that the cookie did not look tasty to him and felt strange. He said one small piece had about 500 calories, which seemed too much. Baekhyun thought eating a cup of ramen would be a smarter choice. He also mentioned the high price, saying it cost as much as a bowl of rice soup and added that the ingredients looked cheap, so the price felt unfair.

Some fans and netizens did not like his view. They pointed out the prices of Baekhyun’s own merchandise to show a comparison. A set of three random photo cards costs around 6,000 Korean won (about 4 USD), and a reusable bag sells for about 17,000 Korean won (around 11.50 USD), and more.

Many people said that the K-pop idol spoke without thinking carefully. They felt it was sad that he often makes remarks like this. Others said idols should watch their words because one wrong comment can bring twice the criticism. Netizens agreed it was disappointing that he still says things like this after so many years as a celebrity.

At the same time, EXO has returned with a new album. However, Chen, Baekhyun, and Xiumin have not joined. This is because of an old issue from June 2023 when Chen, Baekhyun, and Xiumin sued SM over unfair profit distribution, lack of financial transparency, and more.

They briefly settled, allowing solo work through the INB100 agency while doing EXO activities with SM and paying 10% of their earnings to the company. Disputes over payments and trust continued, leading to more lawsuits. By late 2025, courts, including appeals, ruled mostly in SM’s favour.
Even with these past difficulties, fans still support EXO and hope the members stay happy.
