Recently, photos and videos of BTS leader RM, also known as Kim Namjoon, smoking in public places went viral online. This sparked a lot of anger and disappointment among fans. Many people waited for his agency to respond. Now, a new update has finally come out. Read on to know all about it.

On April 22, a Japanese news magazine named Shukan Bunshun published a report about RM. It said that while BTS was in Japan, the group leader was seen smoking in several spots in Shibuya where smoking is not allowed. One person who saw him claimed that the group leader and his friends stayed at one place for almost three hours. The report also mentioned that RM’s walking looked shaky. A security guard came and warned them to stop. It was also reported that they threw cigarette butts on the ground, and a staff member had to pick them up.

The story went viral online and many people felt upset and called his actions careless. They said a big star like him should be more careful in public areas. Some fans defended him and said he has the right to privacy, but others believed he made a mistake.

The next day, on April 23, a South Korean news site called iMBC reported that BIGHIT MUSIC had given a reply. The agency did not say sorry for what happened. Instead, it asked media outlets not to publish articles that used the paparazzi photos from the Japanese report. BIGHIT said they knew about the matter and were dealing with it inside the company. They did not plan to give any long official statement at this time.
