The singer faces accusations of rude behaviour and verbal abuse towards staff behind the scenes. On April 8, ALPHA DRIVE ONE’s agency, Wake One, finally released an official statement. They apologised to fans for the late response and admitted they failed to properly guide and manage their artists.
The agency explained that the incident happened during a content filming session before the group’s debut. Kim Geonwoo used inappropriate language when he thought his microphone was off. He was expressing frustration to himself and did not intend to hurt or attack anyone. However, the agency agreed that the words were still wrong and unprofessional.
They offered a sincere apology to the staff who might have felt uncomfortable. The company revealed that Kim Geonwoo had apologised to the production team immediately after the incident. At that time, both sides talked and believed the matter was settled. That is why they did not make any public statement earlier.
Wake One also made it clear that other accusations spreading online were not true. They said it took time to verify all the claims, which caused the delay in their response. They asked fans and the public to stop sharing unverified information.
Kim Geonwoo is now reflecting on his actions. After discussions with the agency, he has decided to take a break from group activities. ALPHA DRIVE ONE will continue as a seven-member group for the time being. Some pre-recorded content may still be released as planned.
The agency promised to improve their artist management system and wants to prevent similar problems from happening again.
