In a sad turn of events, actor Jung Eun Woo has passed away at the age of 39. Reports claim that he died on February 11, 2026 and the cause is not revealed yet. His body is at New Korea Hospital in Gimpo, and the funeral will happen on February 13 at noon. On February 10, the day before he died, he put up a post on Instagram. It showed pictures of Leslie Cheung, a famous Hong Kong actor who died in 2003, and Amy Winehouse, a British singer who passed away in 2011. The last picture was of himself. In the background he put up Amy Winehouse’s ‘Back to Black’ with the caption, “Missing jealous sorry… PIR.BG.”

Many fans think “PIR.BG” backwards reads “GB.RIP”, which might mean “Goodbye. Rest in peace.” This made people feel even sadder and think he was saying goodbye.
For the unversed, Jung Eun Woo was born on April 10, 1986. When he was young, he played basketball in school. Later, he decided to become an actor instead. He studied theatre at Dongguk University and started acting in 2006 with a small role in a KBS drama called Round 3. Over time, he appeared in many popular shows.
Some of them are Bride of the Sun, Five Fingers, Stranger, and Welcome to Waikiki 2. People liked him a lot in family dramas too, such as One Well-Raised Daughter, The Return of Hwang Geum-bok, and My Only One. He often played kind and strong characters that stayed in viewers’ hearts.
