Tempest Pilot Review: Jun Ji-hyun And Gang Dong-won Promise An Engrossing Spy Drama!
The much-awaited K-drama Tempest is set to premiere on September 10, 2025.

Spy dramas are on another level, as they have the special factor of pulling viewers into a world of secrets and suspense. If you also enjoy those unpredictable and tense moments, then gear up, as a new spy drama titled Tempest is ready to premiere. Starring talented actors like Jun Ji-hyun, Gang Dong-won, John Cho, and more, the trailer already caught our attention with its vibe and now after watching the first episode, it’s clear that this show has a lot to offer. For more insights, keep on reading!
Directed by Kim Hee-won and Heo Myung-haeng, Tempest follows Mun-ju, played by Jun Ji-hyun, a former UN ambassador who teams up with San-ho, portrayed by Gang Dong-won, a mysterious international agent and dives into a dangerous mission to uncover a global plot tied to an assassination attempt.
The trailer had promised action, suspense and romance, and well, the first episode sets the stage nicely. It gave me a look into the drama’s intense moments and the strong connection between Mun-ju and San-ho. There’s a hint of betrayal early on and we also saw a few exciting action scenes. Not to forget, the chemistry between Jun Ji-hyun and Gang Dong-won feels natural.
While the pacing is a bit slow at times, the story built enough intrigue to keep me curious about what’s next. Talking about Jun Ji-hyun, she let her eyes do the talking most of the time. The actor brought a calm and confident energy to the role and her subtle expressions stood out.
Now, about Gang Dong-won’s character San-ho, it’s still a mystery but he pulls off his role of an agent with ease. His nature is different than Jun Ji-hyun’s, and that’s what creates an interesting dynamic.
We are yet to uncover everything about the story. However, the first episode does a great job of setting up the story without overwhelming. It introduces the main characters, hints at the larger conspiracy, and leaves room for the plot to grow.
While it takes its time, the mix of action, drama, and character moments makes it engaging. Fans of spy stories will likely enjoy the slow burn, as it promises bigger twists and thrills ahead.
For the unversed, Tempest is set to premiere on September 10, 2025. It will be available on Disney+ and Hulu in the US, and on JioHotstar in India. With its strong cast and gripping start, this K-drama is one to watch for anyone who loves a good spy thriller.
