On September 23, Jun Ji Hyun’s team spoke to SPOTV News and denied claims that the brand cancelled the ad shoot because of the drama’s controversy. They stated that the filming was only delayed due to local issues and was not cancelled entirely. Further, the agency added that the rumour that the contract ended because of Tempest was completely false and also calmed fans’ worries about her brand partnerships.

It all started with a scene in the K-drama where Jun Ji Hyun’s character says, “Why does China have a preference for war?” Many Chinese viewers found it offensive and disrespectful. Not just this, some viewers also pointed out other scenes where they felt the drama mocked Chinese culture. F
