From Black Sesame Macaron To Doenjang Pasta, Our Favourite Dishes In Bon Appétit, Your Majesty

The drama Bon Appétit, Your Majesty, starring Lee Chaemin and Yoona, has won fans everywhere all because of the great acting, strong chemistry, beautiful visuals, and crisp editing. But the food, created by Chef Yeon Ji-young for the king, is truly a standout. From clever cooking hacks to the king’s joyful reactions, the dishes make the show unforgettable and here’s a list of our favourites.

These List Of Foods Will Surely Make You Drool

Butter Gochujang Bibimbap is a bold and visually appealing dish. Here, the chef uses hazelnut brown butter instead of sesame oil, which gives the spicy gochujang a nutty taste. And to top it all, she decorates with beautiful flowers to add a springtime feel.

Fun fact: In Joseon times, spicy food was rare, so the king was surprised by the heat but eventually fell in love with the dish and ofcourse the woman who made it.

Sous Vide Steak shows the chef’s skills. To cook the tough beef, she uses sous vide to make it tender and juicy. And well, the king’s happy face proves this modern trick turns simple meat into a royal treat.

Korean French Haute Cuisine is fancy yet familiar. The chef starts with yukhoe, like beef tartare. Next is a creamy pea soup and a Korean BBQ-style main dish.

Jaecheop Doenjang Soup Set Meal is simple but powerful. During the royal contest, she takes an unusual route and prepares rice, spinach doenjang soup, fried tofu, and seasoned spinach and wins hearts.

Now, let’s talk about one of my personal favourites – Doenjang Pasta. It’s a fun dish where the chef makes noodles from buckwheat and pairs it with doenjang sauce.

Joseon-Style Schnitzel mimics Korean donkatsu. The chef makes the meat crispy and serves it with a tangy sauce. Another favourite – Joseon-Style Macarons. They look beautiful and delicious. And since not every ingredient was available, the chef made the shells with black sesame, almonds, and Korean flavours like mugwort and jujube.

Dongrae Pajeon, a Busan-style pancake, uses green onions, eggs, and the batter. It’s simple but pairs perfectly with makgeolli, a rice wine.

Next up, the Wild Ginseng Black Chicken Samgyetang, which is made up of black chicken and herbs.

Joseon-Style Restaurer, with tteok and sujebi, which brought back the prince’s energy. Soy Meat Gujeolpan, a vegan royal dish, Eggplant Pie, Green Tea Liquorice Chocolate, and more.
