The singer and songwriter’s role focuses on spreading K-pop’s influence across the globe and the announcement was shared by the presidential office.

To celebrate the moment, he posted a nostalgic picture on Instagram featuring Wonder Girls, the group that made history in 2009 as the first K-pop act to hit the Billboard Hot 100. The post reflected his pride in past achievements and his excitement for this new chapter, where he aims to take Korean music even further.

Furthermore, On September 9, a report from The Chosun Daily shared the founder’s thoughts on his new role. He admitted that taking on a government position felt like a big challenge for someone from the entertainment world. However, he saw it as a rare chance to push K-pop to new heights. He also called it a golden opportunity for Korean music.

Well, his goal to popularise K-pop globally isn’t new. In 2003, he travelled to the U.S., handing out promotional materials to record labels. Later, his dream came true after Wonder Girls made their historic Billboard entry. Since then, he has worked hard to elevate K-pop worldwide.
