The conflict arose in a pending lawsuit with Blake Lively, who previously subpoenaed Ferrer as part of a different case that involved Justin Baldoni. Justin Baldoni On Isabela Ferrer’s Allegations
The conflict escalated when Justin Baldoni’s production company, Wayfarer, also attempted to subpoena Ferrer in July 2025, requesting documents they claim were either missing or not covered in Lively’s earlier subpoena. According to Baldoni’s team, Ferrer’s lawyer, Sanford Michelman, declined to accept service of the subpoena despite repeated requests. Instead, Ferrer’s side filed a strong opposition, accusing Baldoni of misconduct.
In response, Justin Baldoni’s attorneys argued that Ferrer’s legal team had turned a straightforward procedural matter into what they described as a personal attack. They said that Ferrer was originally drawn into the case because of Lively’s subpoena, and that it was unfair for her to comply with one side while allegedly blocking Baldoni’s efforts to secure the same documents.
Ferrer’s attorneys, however, painted a different picture. They claimed Baldoni’s camp acted improperly and tried to pressure Ferrer into cooperating on their terms. They also alleged that Ferrer was told she would only be reimbursed for her legal fees under her film contract if she handed over control of her response to Lively’s subpoena to Wayfarer.
The disagreement deepened when Ferrer accused Baldoni of harassing her and attempting to involve her more deeply in a legal battle she has been trying to avoid. Her lawyers say Baldoni’s conduct has crossed professional boundaries, while Baldoni’s side insists that the accusations are both irrelevant and misleading.

The lawsuit is now in the hands of Judge Lewis J. Liman, and both sides are well dug in. While the legal back-and-forth drags on, the battle has eclipsed the movie itself, with questions being raised about who worked together behind the scenes on It Ends With Us.
