As legal proceedings continue between Justin Baldoni and Blake Lively, a newly leaked voice memo has surfaced, revealing an apology from Baldoni to Lively regarding changes she made to a key scene in It Ends With Us. The recording, which reportedly lasted nearly seven minutes, sheds light on their creative disagreements during the making of the 2024 Colleen Hoover adaptation.
Justin Baldoni Apologises To Blake Lively In New Voice Note
The voice message, published on January 27, appears to reference a meeting where Lively presented her rewritten version of the film’s rooftop scene to her husband, Ryan Reynolds, and close friend Taylor Swift. In the recording, Baldoni acknowledges that his initial response to Lively’s changes was not as supportive as it should have been. He expresses regret for falling short and emphasizes that he appreciates the effort she put into the revision. He also reassures her that he values her feedback and is committed to improving their working dynamic.
Baldoni goes on to compliment Lively’s close circle of friends, describing them as incredibly creative individuals. However, he also points out that he did not require their validation to recognize the quality of her work, as he already believed her changes enhanced the film. He concludes by expressing enthusiasm about collaborating further and revisiting the entire movie together.
The leaked memo comes amid an ongoing legal battle between the two actors. Lively has accused Baldoni of inappropriate behaviour during the film’s production, allegations he has strongly denied. In response, Baldoni has filed a $400 million defamation countersuit against Lively, arguing that her claims have damaged his career.
As part of his legal defence, Baldoni’s team released text messages exchanged between the two, which discuss the rooftop scene revisions. In these messages, Lively reportedly conveyed her disappointment in his reaction, while also mentioning that Reynolds and Swift had praised her version. Baldoni later responded, stating that he admired her creative input and believed it made the scene more engaging.
More Details On Trial Date
Since filing his countersuit, Baldoni’s legal team has announced plans to launch a website containing various pieces of correspondence and videos that they claim will counter Lively’s accusations. In response, Lively’s lawyers have requested a court intervention to prevent the release of this information, arguing that it could unfairly influence public perception before the trial.
The legal battle is set to intensify in the coming months. A pretrial conference is scheduled for February 3, 2025, where both parties will discuss the timeline and structure of the case. The full trial is expected to begin on March 9, 2026.
