‘Bridgerton’s’ Jonathan Bailey And White Collar’s Matt Bomer To Star In A Romance Series. We’re Already Simping!

We can't wait

I feel like there are certain celebrity crushes you just do not get over. No matter how much time has passed. And one of them for me is White Collar’s, Matt Bomer. I remember developing the biggest crush on him as a teen and am clearly not over it yet. So imagine my surprise and excitement when I heard that he will be seen with our very own viscount, Bridgerton’s Jonathan Bailey for a romance series named Fellow Travelers. And when I say I am already being a simp, I am not exaggerating.

After raising all of our romantic standards, Jonathan Bailey will co-star with Matt Bomer and Allison Williams in the Showtime Limited Series Fellow Travelers. After his return to Bridgerton as Anthony Bridgerton for Season 3, he has a new gig. Bailey will play Tim Laughlin, a young Fordham University graduate who is serious about his political and religious beliefs and optimistic about the post-WWII future.

Fellow Travelers is a thrilling story of love with themes of politics woven in. It is about two very different individuals who meet in the backdrop of McCarthy-era Washington. Bomer will play Hawkins Fuller, an attractive, charismatic politician with a financially profitable behind-the-scenes career. Hawkins stays away from emotional entanglements until he meets Tim Laughlin, a young guy full of idealism and religious devotion.

They start dating just as Joseph McCarthy and Roy Cohn launched a war on “subversives and sexual deviants,” ushering in one of the darkest moments in American history. Hawk and Tim meet amidst the 1960 Vietnam War uprisings, the 1970s drug-fueled disco hedonism, and the 1980s AIDS epidemic, all while facing challenges in the world and within themselves.

The eight-episode limited series is based on the novel of the same name by Thomas Mallon and is created by Oscar-nominated Ron Nyswaner. The show has been executive produced by  Bomer and Nyswaner alongside Robbie Rogers. Daniel Minahan executive produced and directed the first two episodes. The Fremantle/Showtime co-production will begin filming in Toronto later this month.
