Jimmy Kimmel Asked To Apologise, Pay Charlie Kirk’s Family To Lift Suspension. All You Need To Know
As per Sinclair, Jimmy Kimmel must issue a direct apology to the Kirk family.

Sinclair Broadcast Group, the owner of the largest ABC affiliate network in the US, has demanded a set of measures from Jimmy Kimmel if he wants his late-night show, Jimmy Kimmel Live, to be reinstated on its stations. These demands come after ABC pulled down the show following remarks that he made about the death of the conservative commentator, Charlie Kirk, who was shot and killed on September 10. Read to know more about the case here.
About Jimmy Kimmel
As per Sinclair, Jimmy Kimmel must issue a direct apology to the Kirk family. He must also make a ‘meaningful personal donation’ not only to them, but to Charlie Kirke’s nonprofit, Turning Point USA, as reported by PEOPLE. Not just this, they also want ABC to commit to professionalism and accountability through formal discussions about network standards. The suspension of the show was triggered after Kimmel’s opening monologue in the September 15th episode.
Kimmel criticised attempts by MAGA-aligned people to frame the shooter as anything other than one of ‘them.’ He also accused them of turning ‘finger-pointing’ into political leverage amid grieving. Sinclair’s vice chairman called the hosts’ comments ‘inappropriate and deeply insensitive’ at a critical moment for the country. He mentioned that broadcasters need to be ‘respectful.’ They removed Jimmy Kimmel Live! from its 30 ABC-affiliated stations in markets including Seattle, Washington, DC, St Luis, Tulsa, and Portland.

A special program honouring Charlie Kirk will run in Kimmel’s timeslot in many of these markets. ABC confirmed its program would be pulled ‘indefinitely.’ Also, major media company Nexstar joined the preemption, stating that his comments did not align with the values of many local communities and that continuing his broadcast would not be in the public interest.
