Javed Akhtar Reacts To Fake AI Video

On Friday, Javed Akhtar took to his X and shared that a fake, artificially generated video of him has been making rounds on social media. He added that he has worn a topi in the video and is claiming that he has tuned into God. Javed Akhtar called it “Rubbish.” Further, the veteran star penned that he was considering reporting the same to the cyber police and dragging the person who created it and the ones who forwarded the clip to the court for damaging his reputation and credibility. For the unaware, the said fake AI video was being shared online after Javed Akhtar’s debate with Islamic scholar Mufti Shamail went viral on social media. Why Is This Problematic?

This is not the first time an Al video of a celebrity has gone viral for setting up false narratives. The fact that such videos or images can be made easily is scary. Many good things have happened because of AI but such fake clips can turn out to be damaging because celebrities have an influence over the masses who are ready to believe anything they say. We hope that stricter actions are imposed over such matters legally. We also applaud Javed Akhtar for quickly clarifying that it was fake and revealing his intention to take legal steps.
