What Did Javed Akhtar Say?

Javed Akhtar had a very strong and hard-hitting reaction to how society reacted in Sonam Raghuvanshi and Muskan Rastogi’s case. The writer said that the society was shaken on learning about the murders allegedly committed by women, and he further questioned why there was never an outrage when a woman is beaten every day or burnt alive somewhere, as per the NDTV interview.

Javed Akhtar also condemned how a crime done by women shocks society, but they would remain unshaken and silent when women become victims of various brutal crimes daily. Moreover, he called the society ‘shameless’ and added that people are so offended and shaken by these murders, but there would be no outrage when men commit crimes against women. He also highlighted the fact that many girls in small towns are forced into getting married and urged the investigators to look for this angle in the recent cases, too, as per the interview.
