When it comes to practically anything women have often been viewed as the inferior gender and that is why support from the male gender is very important when it comes to promoting gender equality. In an exclusive interview with Hauterrfly’s The Male Feminist, Bollywood actress Janhvi Kapoor who is gearing up for her upcoming movie Ulajh, offered her perspective on how men can be better allies to women. Her thoughts provide a meaningful contribution to the ongoing conversation about gender equality and support.

Janhvi Kapoor On Men Becoming Better Allies To Women

Janhvi Kapoor emphasized the importance of genuine equality between the sexes. She highlighted that both men and women have unique strengths and weaknesses, and recognizing this diversity is crucial. “By believing they are genuinely equal to the opposite sex and both sexes have something to offer,” she stated. This mutual respect of opinions and capabilities is the foundation of being a true ally. One of the key points Janhvi made was about the traditional roles of men as providers and protectors. She suggested that men should not feel obligated to always assume these roles. “You don’t need to assume the role of a provider and protector all the time,” she explained. This shift in mindset allows women to take charge of their own lives and make independent decisions. Janhvi emphasized, “Sometimes the woman is more than capable of making her own decisions as well.”

Janhvi’s perspective is a reminder that true allyship involves understanding and supporting the autonomy of women. It means acknowledging their abilities and allowing them the space to lead and make choices without unnecessary intervention. By fostering an environment of mutual respect and equality, men can become better allies and contribute to a more balanced and just society.
