K-pop group IVE has become the target of misogynistic remarks after a viral stage video led to deeply disturbing comments online. The video, shot from behind the group during a performance and later uploaded to YouTube, gathered hundreds of thousands of views in no time. IVE Becomes Target Of Misogynistic And Explicit Comments
What really sent fans and netizens into a stir is that the comments were targeting IVE’s youngest member, Leeseo, who is still a minor. Several users left graphic remarks about the video, which fueled outrage through Korean online communities. Screenshots of the comment thread circulated on Nate Pann, as netizens criticised the behaviour and framed the situation “sickening,” underlining that sexualized comments toward minors clearly fall under harassment and could see legal consequences.
IVE Fans countered that female idols, especially the younger members, are constantly objectified online, and the platforms need to be held accountable. “This isn’t just trolling. This is sexual harassment, and it involves a minor,” one netizen stated, calling for stronger implementation of digital safety laws.
Fans criticise YouTube and its comment moderation system, demanding that the platform take stern action against these explicit comments. They also requested IVE’s company, Starship Entertainment, to take legal action, referring to previous cases where harassment of underage female idols led to public outrage and police investigations.
