A very emotional and hard-hitting film titled Homebound recently hit theatres on September 26. The film is also India’s official entry into the Oscars. It stars Vishal Jethwa, Ishaan Khatter, and Janhvi Kapoor in lead roles, and is directed by Neeraj Ghaywan. The film received 11 cuts before being passed by the Censoring Board, and during an interview, Ishaan Khatter was asked about his thoughts on the same. The actor gave a very balanced POV. Ishaan Khatter On Censoring
The young and talented star recently gave his view on censorship, which is quite a hot topic of debate in today’s time. In a conversation with Zoom, when the actor was asked about the cuts made in his film Homebound, Ishaan gave a very crisp response. The Royals actor said that he was directly involved in the process and therefore refrained from stating any misinformed views. However, he went on to give a general answer in which he opined that any cuts in the film deeply impact the artists or makers as it could in someway alter the film.
Ishaan further accepted that there would be barometers for these cuts but also questioned the bars on which he a film was judged. The actor stated that many film with objectionable content have been released with little to no cuts. He further opined that many other films, especially the ones based on social themes that have a perspective to deliver are scrutinised more. Ishaan Khatter advocated for more balanced and equal approach to this, from both sides.

Ishaan Khatter starrer Homebound’s runtime was cut short by 77 seconds after the cuts. However, the film has been widely acclaimed.
