The soldier in question is none other than late Major Mohit Sharma, who infiltrated Hizbul Mujahideen by going undercover as Iftikhar Bhatt. In a surprising twist, the Major’s family took a legal step, reportedly asking for a halt to the film’s release. This comes after the director Aditya Dhar clarified that the project is not based on him.

Amid the online buzz about the film, Major Mohit Sharma’s family reportedly filed a petition in the Delhi High Court seeking a ban on the release of the film. They stated that the Major isn’t a “commercial commodity” and no individual has the right to use their life to gain profit, especially without permission. Additionally, the family has requested a private screening with access to raw footage, script and promotional material. Organisations, including the Central Board of Film Certification, the Ministry of Information and Broadcasting and Jio Studios, were mentioned alongside filmmaker Aditya Dhar’s name.

However, soon after the Delhi High Court asked the CBFC to review the film basis the concerns raised by the parents of late Major Mohit Sharma.
