The recent season of the famous Indian Premiere League has been making headlines such the fans. And amid this, the Punjab Kings’ vs Kolkata Knight Riders was cancelled due to rain and both the teams got one point each. Amid this, cricketer Shreyas Iyer’s sister, Shresta Iyer, shared a funny post online about KKR and wrote, “Sadde Punjabis da dil vadda hunda ae. While this post might not have been a big deal to her, but it hurt fans who didn’t keep their feelings to themselves. As soon as Shresta shared this online, she started receiving threats and the situation got so intense that she again took to her Instagram and shared a long message about the same. She explained on Instagram that she had taken down her recent video after realizing it had been misunderstood by some viewers.

She said her aim was simply to make a lighthearted joke, but acknowledged that not everyone perceived it that way. At the same time, she expressed distress over receiving threatening messages and emphasized that she never intended to hurt anyone. She added that while supporting one’s team is important, resorting to threats is unacceptable.

She pointed out that friendly teasing is common among people in schools, colleges, and workplaces when someone’s favorite team loses, and questioned why similar behavior from a cricketer’s sister should lead to such hostile reactions. The incident once again shows how easily playful fan banter can escalate in the high-pressure atmosphere of the IPL, where even people loosely connected to the game can end up facing excessive criticism.
