BTS’s J-Hope arrived in Paris on June 23 and went to the brand’s main office. Fans loved his style and aura on the street. However, a bunch of netizens claimed that the BTS member was copying BIGBANG’s G-Dragon. They claimed that J-Hope’s walking style was similar to G-Dragon who is known to keep his head down in large crowds. Read on to know more about it.

This comparison caused a big discussion on the internet. Many internet users made posts mentioning moments where they felt J-Hope was copying G-Dragon. For example, some mentioned similarities like their Spotify profile pictures, black and white poses, and even the “G-Dragon” and “J-Hope” names. Another user stated that watching J-Hope try to be G-Dragon was very awkward to see.

However, ARMYs quickly responded to these claims. One fan stated that if using a black-and-white photo meant J-Hope was copying G-Dragon, then there are many other artists like Kendrick Lamar and Cold War Kids who also use black-and-white photos. The fan called the claims unserious.

Another user shared that his stage name came from combining Bang PD (HYBE’s founder) and RM (BTS’s leader). He wanted the “J” to represent his family name (Jung/Jeong) and included “H” and “O” to match the first part of his given name, “Ho”. Bang PD proposed “j-hope”, and since he loved it right away, they gave it a special meaning and chose it. Armys felt that the comparison was unfair and based on minute details.
