About Ranveer Singh’s Dhurandhar

A meme that surfaced on the internet a while back included a social media account from Islamabad called Washma Butt. The response to the name that sounds like ‘wipe my butt’ was “Wash it yourself.” In 2019, there was a discussion on 9gag regarding whether the name in the meme was indeed real, with one person explaining that “Butt is a legitimate family name in Pakistan. But Washma isn’t a real name.

A significant sequence in Dhurandhar occurs when Ranveer Singh’s character, Hamza Ali Mazari, first arrives in Lyari. He visits a biryani and chai business owned by Gaurav Gera’s character, Mohammad Aalam. The camera pans to the name of the shop, Washma Butt. While the scenes around the photo are sombre, the internet couldn’t stop laughing at the reference. Social media quickly became inundated with screenshots of the shop’s name, with others marvelling at how well the Dhurandhar crew understood the meme.
