Plot

Rohit Shetty’s series Indian Police Force is primarily dedicated to the hard-working and dedicated Delhi police. A major part of the plot is based in Delhi and revolves around the 6 consecutive bomb blasts that take place in the National capital. Sidharth Malhotra (Kabir Malik) and Vivek Oberoi (Vikram Bakshi) are officers in Delhi Police’s Special Cell Department, where the latter plays Sidharth’s team leader. The first episode begins by showing the horror nature of bomb blasts that happen in Delhi. In the first episode itself, we get an idea about the brave characters of Vikram Bakshi and Kabir Malik during the rescue operations. Shilpa Shetty’s Tara Shetty is the Gujarat ATS Chief, who helps the Special Cell with the necessary intel during the hunt. In the first season of the Indian Police Force, Mayyank Tandon as Zarar plays the terrorist who is responsible for the attacks. The story progresses to show a thrilling hunt to find Zarar and all his mates by the Delhi Police. During the course, there are some shocking twists too when the series becomes heavy with emotions. Shweta Tiwari is seen in the role of Vikram Bakshi’s wife and has a significant emotional value to add to these sequences. The chase becomes more engaging when Zarar attacks Jaipur and then Goa. Indian Police Force has a lot of chase scenes, hand-to-hand combats, and flying cars, and all these aspects make this series a proper Rohit Shetty product!

Characters And Performances

Sidharth Malhotra as Kabir Malik is dashing, and impressive and shines in the action sequences. We have seen Sidharth Malhotra play patriotic characters before as well, and even in the Indian Police Force, the actor does not disappoint. He is equally good during the emotionally low phases of his character too. Kabir Malik’s character was a brave, patriotic officer who carried a heavy heart after his wife’s death. Sidharth Malhotra effortlessly showcases these transitions in his character. Vivek Oberoi’s performance was average because there were moments when his angry dialogue deliveries felt a little forced and less impactful. Shilpa Shetty is a very fit and intimidating female officer who has an important role to play but her character does not have its edgy moments in the series. Shilpa Shetty hits the ball out of the park with her hand-to-hand combat scenes, but we hoped to see more of her badass avatar. Shweta Tiwari as Vikram Bakshi’s wife Shruti will make you cry like a baby in her emotional scenes. The actress is flawless in her role as the strong-headed wife of an officer.

Direction And Screenplay

Indian Police Force brings to the table a repetitive storyline. It showcases the story of a terrorist who believes that he is doing the right thing, but through Kabir Malik’s character, a positive POV of what religion actually demands from a person is also portrayed. The two sides of a coin narrative was the only fresh bit to the plot. Indian Police Force becomes engaging because there is a right balance of action and emotions. The interpersonal relations in the plot make it more relatable and thus the audience feels the connection with the characters, their loss and their emotions too! This is a typical Rohit Shetty cop universe series that will keep you on the edge with its action and chasing sequences. Also, the slow-motion walks of the actors after doing something heroic have kinda become boring too! However, there is nothing new that you should expect from the series in terms of direction. Rohit Shetty does try to make this series a little dramatic on the patriotic bit, but on second thoughts, that’s all of his cop universe films.

Music

The background score of the Indian Police Force adds a heroic and thrilling feel to the scenes, but at the same time, the album is not a memorable one. There is also a romantic track Bairiyaa Re which is eventually forgotten as the series moves further.

Verdict

Indian Police Force is a good weekend watch if you are craving a Rohit Shetty family entertainer series with good action. However, you will also get the bonus of good performances by the ensemble. Barring some overdramatic dialogues, stretched action scenes and a repetitive storyline, the series is an engaging watch, that will mainly keep you hooked because of its performances!
