ILLIT’s Teasers For Upcoming Song Draw Mixed Reactions
ILLIT recently dropped teaser images for their upcoming single ‘NOT CUTE ANYMORE’, set to release on November 24. The pictures seem to be inspired by both cyberpunk and Y2K aesthetics. The main concept features the girls on motorbikes, wearing helmets and jackets.
While many praised the group for their fresh and unique concept, others said that it looked very familiar to NewJeans’ Pit Stop concept. Ever since their debut, ILLIT has been the target of plagiarism allegations. NewJeans’ former creative director, Min Hee Jin, also alleged that ILLIT’s team was attempting to copy her group’s concept.
However, this time, ILLIT fans debunked the plagiarism concept by pointing out that ILLIT’s concept images focus more on motocross rather than MotoGP. Notably, Motocross does not have pit stops.
Aside from plagiarism allegations, some Netizens also criticised the teasers for looking too raw and unedited. They said the background looked distracting, and the outfits make it look like the girls are cosplaying in kids’ outfits. While others feel like the pictures look innovative and different, praising the IILIT members for pulling off this look.
