Actress Ileana D’Cruz surprised fans with the news of her pregnancy last year in August and gave birth to her firstborn, son–Koa Phoenix Dolan. Giving birth to Koa with partner Michael Dolan, the actress has gone through a turbulent journey post-childbirth. Experiencing postpartum depression, Ileana in the latest interview with Times Of India spoke about about her journey post-childbirth. Here’s what Ileana spoke about embracing motherhood so far.
Pregnancy
Speaking about pregnancy, the actress mentioned how she found out about her pregnancy in November 2022, and all of 2023 was about bearing the child in her womb. She mentioned how the transformation from India to the US, became a task for her. During the interview, she also expressed that she really wished to work during her pregnancy, but doctors suggested rest.
Postpartum Depression Was Surprising
On the realities of postpartum depression, D’Cruz mentioned that nothing could’ve prepared me for it. She also extended gratitude towards her team of doctors and family, for being her biggest support
Mom Guilt
Much like new mom and actress Alia Bhatt, who openly spoke about mom guilt, Ileana said she went through her share of emotions, struggling with a lot of mom guilt. Siting an example, she mentioned once she started crying in her room because she was missing her son, who was sleeping in the other room.

Partner Michael Dolan
Besides speculation around her equation with her partner Mike AKA Michael Dolan, Ileana illustrated his personality and mentioned how he has been the greatest support throughout. She also revealed that Mike has visited India four times, and loves Mumbai.
On August 1, 2023, Ileana and Mike welcomed their firstborn–Koa Phoenix Dolan.
