Suzy And Kim Seon Ho’s Upcoming Drama Hypnosis Halts Filming Following Backlash

Set in the region of Gyeongseong in 1935, Hypnosis follow Song Jung Hwa (played by Suzy), an enigmatic woman whose portrait is being painted by Yoon Yi Ho (played by Kim Seon Ho), a painter with a life embroiled in secrets, power, and desire. The period drama promises to showcase romance, mystery, and political intrigue. Directed by Han Jae Rim, director of The King, Emergency Declaration and The 8, the K-drama had garnered a lot of hype due to its unique plot and stellar cast.

But reports indicate that the production team has halted Hypnosis’ original filming schedule amid political backlash. The controversy revolves around Polaris, another Disney+ K-drama, which was hit by intense backlash from Chinese netizens after a line of a character mentioning China and war went viral online. The issue prompted calls for boycotts, suspected brand removals, and escalated political tensions online.

A source for Suzy and Kim Seon Ho’s K-drama Hypnosis revealed, “The location was still being considered — nothing was actually set, and it’s hard to verify upcoming shooting locations,” reiterating that production is ongoing, but schedules have been reorganised.

For both Suzy and Kim Seon Ho, Hypnosis is an important part of their acting careers. Suzy, who has received praise for titles such as Anna and Start-Up, continues to cement her reputation as a talented leading lady. Kim Seon Ho, who is known for his performances in Hometown Cha-Cha-Cha and My Love From The Star, will also be making a highly anticipated return to the small screen with this drama.
