There are various item songs that we still vibe to, but well, we cannot deny the fact that these tracks are simply objectifying women, with sexualised lyrics and choreography. Recently, actor Huma Qureshi shared her thoughts on the criticism around item songs and opined that not every track is meant to be about objectification. Huma Qureshi’s Opinion
Huma Qureshi spoke about the opinions and discussion around item songs. In an interview with Bollywood Bubble, the actor said that there are certain item songs which are meant for a strict male gaze and objectify women. Huma said that a woman instantly gets the feeling of being in the wrong place with such songs; however, the actor went on to talk about some item songs which celebrated a female form, sensuality and glamour, and there was nothing wrong in doing that.
During the promotions of her song Dil Thaam Ke, Huma Qureshi had also said that she did not like to be put in a box, and if she can do serious roles, she could also pull off item songs.
