Congratulations are in order as Bollywood star Huma Qureshi’s film Bayaan is headed to the Toronto International Film Festival 2025. The film will have a world premiere and is the only Indian film in the Discovery section. It will screen at a platform that has previously showcased works of veteran directors like Christopher Nolan, Alfonso Cuarón, and Barry Jenkins. Read to know more about it here.
Huma Qureshi’s Bayaan Goes To TIFF
Huma Qureshi’s Bayaan is directed by Bikas Ranjan Mishra, and will have its world premiere in September 2025. The actress said that her film had a ‘timely and powerful’ story about a woman stuck in the crosshair of ‘power, faith, and systemic complicity.’ She now must battle the system that seeks to silence her. Qureshi expressed her gratefulness to play such a powerful character on screen.
Aside from Huma, Bayaan features Chandrachur Singh, Sachin Khedekar, Paritosh Sand, Avijit Dutt, Vibhore Mayank, Sampa Mandal, Swati Das, Aditi Kanchan Singh, and Perry Chhabra. Udit Khurana did the cinematography, while A Sreekar Prasad (RRR) did the editing. Ajay Jayanthi composed the soundtrack, and Shilpi Agarwal designed the clothes. Huma is also attached as an Executive producer of the film.

It is supported by Film Festival Rotterdam’s Hubert Bals Fund and was made at the LA Residency. She was last seen in a raunchy title track called ‘Dil Thaam Ke’ from Rajkummar Rao’s film Maalik.
