Honey Singh Says The Misogynistic Lyrics Of His Songs Were Unintentionally. Is He For Real?

TBH, I enjoy Honey Singh’s songs. While his songs are fun to grove to, there’s only so much one can do to ignore the misogyny that oozes out of his music. To me, it was a total flex to listen to his song ‘Brown Rang’ which essentially taught me self-love and to be comfortable with my wheatish complexion. But that doesn’t mean that I’m going to turn a blind eye to all the songs made by Honey Singh that have sexist lyrics. And let’s not forget Volume 1 and Volume 2. The man really has created some objectionable songs. However, in a latest interview, the singer-rapper addressed his misogynistic lyrics and the criticism he faced due to it.

Speaking to Pinkvilla, Honey Singh claimed that his songs are not misogynistic. He stated that nothing he did was intentional and if that were the case, people would not have listened to his songs. He further added that if his songs were misogynistic then he would not have been asked to perform at weddings where aunties also get on the stage to dance to his songs. He went on to conclude that these days people have become extremely sensitive which has led to this.

Being someone who enjoys dancing to Honey Singh’s songs, I am not a fan of the lyrics or the man. Just because people listen to it or dance to the music, it doesn’t mean there’s nothing wrong with the lyrics. Also, what does he mean when he says it wasn’t intentional? Umm, buddy…how do you unintentionally pen lyrics objectifying women and asking them to be your “whore” or asking men to pick women before they end up with women who aren’t “fresh”. It’s gold how this man categorically denied writing sexist lyrics or doing anything wrong instead of owning his mistake and making a change.
