On May 2, the group announced changed their name to ‘i-dle.’ This announcement was made through their social media channel on the same day, and their agency described it as a ‘new beginning.’ While many celebrate this new name, many are confused as to why it happened. The dropping of the ‘G’ from their name was because their identity as a group couldn’t be described as just girls or any other gender.
