Famous socialite and businesswoman, Kim Kardashian, is now officially a lawyer too! The Keeping Up With The Kardashians star took to her Instagram to announce that she has finally completed law school after 6 years. But what’s interesting is that she became a lawyer without ever attending college or enrolling in a traditional law programme. Read on to know how the reality star did it!
Kim decided to pursue a legal career in 2019, when she was heartbroken about the systemic failure of the criminal justice system. She was also inspired by her late father, Robert Kardashian, who was a well-known attorney and also part of O.J. Simpson’s defense team. Instead of enrolling in a conventional law school, Kim chose the legal apprenticeship pathway. Under California law, one can become a lawyer by working under the apprenticeship of a practicing attorney. Along with California,a very few states like Virginia, Vermont, and Washington allow individuals to become lawyers through this method without a law degree.
The 44-year-old reality star and Skims founder shared the news on Wednesday. She celebrated this remarkable achievement with a small graduation-style ceremony surrounded by close family and friends. Among those present were her sister Khloé Kardashian, her children Saint, Chicago, Psalm West, and her close friend and attorney Van Jones. The venue was thoughtfully decorated with Kim’s study notes put on display. Van Jones said in a speech that to become a lawyer Kim studies for a total 5,184 hours!
Kim has also passed the multistate professional responsibility exam. Once she clears the bar exam, she will be able to practice law in California. While the journey has not been easy, Kardashian has inspired many of her fans to pursue their dreams and goals.
In 2018, Kim also met with President Donald Trump to discuss a potential pardon for a 63-year-old woman, Alice Marie Johnson. She also joined forces with Trump’s son-in-law, Jared Kushner, to advocate for federal prison reforms in America.
