What Did Kim Sung Cheol Say?
Following criticism for his involvement in a poll related to controversial content featuring female K-pop idols, actor Kim Sung-cheol has issued an apology. His agency, Story J Company, acknowledged the incident, calling it a careless mistake. They clarified that while he did participate in the poll, he did not follow or engage with the account’s content beyond that single interaction. Upon realising the account’s controversial nature, he immediately withdrew his vote. The agency expressed deep regret that the incident affected other artists and confirmed that they had already apologised to the agencies representing those artists. They further added that the situation arose from carelessness and pledged to be more cautious with social media activity in the future to prevent similar incidents.

Additionally, he isn’t the only celebrity involved; actor Kim Min Seok known for his role in Mr. Plankton and Melomance’s vocalist Kim Min Seok also participated in the account’s activities. These videos, often zoom on certain body parts in a way that shifts the focus from the idols’ talent and artistry to their physical appearance. The slow-motion effect is another concern as it feel feels intrusive and exploitative. It’ wrong on so many levels! The agencies should take a strict action.
