‘Hautesteppers 3.0’: Swara Bhasker Says She Doesn’t Want To Wait For The “Right Man” To Have Children

She is so right!

I came to a conclusion a few months ago that I would like to be a mother. And what I realised later was that with my track record of failed relationships, I might or might not have a partner for this to happen. Now either I just choose not to have kids or I do and don’t care about a partner. I personally have decided to opt for the latter. I just decided that being a parent was more important to me than whatever society dictated in terms of being a single mother. And I am not the only one who thinks that way was our most recent Hautesteppers 3.0 guest, Swara Bhasker, also talked about wanting to raise a child without a partner and her insights are so valuable.

In the most recent Hautesteppers 3.0 episode, controversial naari Swara Bhasker opened up about wanting to adopt regardless of having a partner. She said she is on the CARA waitlist for adoption and has also frozen her eggs which she can use with an anonymous sperm donor. She further added that she doesn’t know when and if she will ever meet the “right man” or partner and she didn’t want to wait for that to happen for her to be a parent. She said that she would rather raise a child alone than be in a loveless marriage or relationship just for the sake of having kids.

I personally have always looked up to women like Sushmita Sen and my nani who were brave and bold enough to stand in the face of a patriarchal who said that they needed men to raise children. Swara Bhasker has also joined the list. I feel like it is one thing to be opinionated and vocal about your thoughts and it is another to embody them in reality. Considering Swara is doing as she preaches, I respect her for the same.
