As per reports, Agent Kim Reactivated has broken viewership records. It reached a high rating of 21.6 percent across the country and topped Netflix’s global list for non-English TV shows. In the story, So Ji-sub plays a retired secret agent. Once seen as a major threat by both North and South Korea, his character now lives quietly as a single father.
However, some flashback scenes like the intense action sequence in North Korea were curated by AI. It marks one of the first times a Korean drama featured a long stretch of AI-made dramatic footage.
A nearly three-minute action part in the early episodes was fully generated by AI. The team at Morpheus Studio used their AICRON tool for this. It showed car chases on snowy roads and inside tunnels, cars flipping over, gun battles, fights with hands, and even an escape underwater. Using AI helped cut down on huge expenses for travel to locations, building sets, fire effects, and usual visual tricks.
Many viewers liked how the AI scenes looked and felt real. Still, the news brought mixed reactions. Some people who do not support artificial intelligence worry about its role in films and shows. They fear it may affect actors’ and other staff members’ jobs.
