The Grammys 2026 are underway, and already, KPop Demon Hunters has won its first-ever trophy! ‘Golden’ by HUNTR/X, the fictitious K-pop group in the film, won the award for Best Song Written for Visual Media category. It is the first song with Korean lyrics to win in the category. What a beautiful achievement, and so well-deserved for EJAE, Teddy, and the other songwriters!
Grammys 2026: More About KPop Demon Hunters’ First Win
Grammys 2026: During the pre-telecast section, EJAE and Mark Sonnenblick, along with Park Hong Jun (Teddy), Joong Gyu Kwak, Yu Han Lee, Hee Dong Nam, Jeong Hoon Seol, the songwriters, were awarded the Grammy. Some of them accepted the award for the KPop Demon Hunters song.
Jeong, popularly known as 24, delivered a speech in English and Korean, thanking the makers of Demon Hunters, SONY, and THEBLACKLABEL team for all their support. He also gave a shout-out to Teddy Park, who unfortunately couldn’t make it. Calling him the “pioneer of K-pop,” 24 said he shares this honour with Teddy, a close friend and collaborator. Teddy has been a producer for some of the most popular K-pop acts, including but not limited to BLACKPINK, 2NE1, Sunmi, and BIG BANG. This is his first Grammy.
Songwriter EJAE, who had given the speech when ‘Golden’ won at the Golden Globes 2026, is also a third of HUNTR/X. Rei Ami and Audrey Nuna complete the group, which was formed for the KPop Demon Hunters soundtrack. A historic pairing that was “born to be,” indeed!
Grammys 2026: How EJAE Won Hearts With KPop Demon Hunters’ Golden
After its wins at the Critics Choice Awards and Golden Globes, the song’s Grammy shouldn’t come as a surprise. However, the fact a seemingly unassuming film that dropped on Netflix in 2025 has made history is a huge achievement. For EJAE, who has been writing K-pop music for almost a decade one, it is career-affirming. She has spoken about the journey that lead her to making ‘Golden’, including a failed attempt at becoming a K-pop idol. Now, she is the first Korean-American songwriter to have won a Grammy Award. Life has a way of making it up to people who work hard!
