The 2026 Grammy Awards kicked off with many surprising moments on February 1 in Los Angeles. For us Indians, we were more excited to see which desi-nominated artist would take home the prestigious award. This year, musicians including Anoushka Shankar, Siddhant Bhatia, Shakti and Chatru Suri garnered nominations in multiple categories. Sadly, we saw no wins during the ceremony. Indian Artists Secure No Wins At Grammys!
When the nominations for the 2026 Grammys rolled, we were proud to see Indian musicians– Anoushka Shankar, Siddhant Bhatia, Shakti and Charu Suri in the nominations list. For the unversed, Anoushka Shankar’s EP titled ‘Chapter III: We Return to Light’ was nominated in the Best Global Music Album category and her track ‘Daybreak’ made it in the Best Global Music Performance list. The same category also includes Shakti’s ‘Shrini’s Dream’ nomination. Additionally, the group’s ‘Mind Explosion’ garnered another nomination under the Best Global Music Album. Siddhant Bhatia’s ‘Sound of Kumba’ was nominated for Best Global Music Album. Additionally, pianist Charu Suri’s ‘Shayan’ was competing in the Best Contemporary Instrumental Album list!
So, Who Won In These Categories?
At the 2026 Grammys, Bad Bunny’s ‘EoO’ beat Anoushka Shankar and Shakti by securing a win in Best Global Music Performance, Caetano Veloso & Maria Bethania’s ‘Caetano e Bethania Ao Vio’ garnered a win in Best Global Music Album. The Best Contemporary Instrumental Album award was won by Arkai’s ‘Brightside.’
Although Indian artists did not win a single Grammy this year, we are still proud of them and their artistry!
