Yesterday was a remarkable day for K-pop as multiple K-pop idols were revealed to have been invited to join the Recording Academy as voters. The artists who were invited include TXT’s Yeonjun, LE SSERAFIM’s Yunjin, Korean rapper Zico and more. Fans were overjoyed to see their favourites recognised with such an honour. Here is all you need to know about the Grammy invitations and how they work.

K-pop Idols From HYBE Invited To Join The Voting Committee For The Grammys

On July 10, the Recording Academy revealed that several musicians affiliated with HYBE, such as BUMZU, Zico, Woozi and Vernon from Seventeen, Yeonjun from TXT, Jungwon from ENHYPEN, Huh Yunjin from LE SSERAFIM, and all members of the global girl group KATSEYE, have been inducted as new voting members. All the artists mentioned above have significantly contributed to their group’s music, participating in songwriting as well as production.

To qualify for voting in the Grammy Awards, individuals must first join the Recording Academy. Membership is by invitation only and involves peer recommendations, submitting an application, and a review by a peer panel. Voting members are mainly music creators, such as performers, songwriters, and producers, while professional members are those in the music business.

K-pop fans congratulated the idols who were sent this prestigious invitation and said that it was overdue. K-pop has been taking over global music for a while now, with BTS having been nominated for the Grammys twice.
