GMMTV Under Fire For Controversial Group Picture

The TikTok Awards Thailand 2025 was held on November 8. This prestigious award show was attended by Thailand’s top influencers, singers and actors. Before the event started, guests walked the ‘black’ carpet to pose for pictures.

The GMMTV crew also took the carpet with all their artists. In a now viral clip from that moment, the company’s new girl group FELIZZ and Thai actresses Chari, Jaoying, Chelsea, Pream, Acare, and Sangt were seen kneeling on the floor. While the male actors, including Ohm, Gemini, Junior and Sea, were standing behind them along with GMMTV’s CEO, P’Tha Sataporn

.

Netizens were enraged at the pictures because many felt that the female celebrities looked visibly uncomfortable when asked to kneel due to their short dresses and heels. They were glancing around for help while the men in the frame remained standing.

This incident received massive backlash from the internet, with many calling out actors like Gemini and Ohm for not speaking out and helping the girls. People are calling the entire situation “tone-deaf” and “embarrassing”, especially when another clip of the actors adjusting and making place for the mascots was revealed.

Neither GMMTV, the actors, nor the TikTok Awards have released a statement addressing this controversy. However, some noticed that the company edited the post, replacing the original image with one where the male artists are kneeling instead of the girls.

Talking about the controversy, many urged all the actors and GMMTV to apologise for their actions that put the female artists in such an uncomfortable position. A few are, however, defending the male artists by saying that upon closer look, some of them can be viewed as checking on the girls, and it was the event organiser’s fault.
